From Blewbury to The Bell at Aldworth

(and back!)

Starting from The Pound (close to The Load of Mischief) at 10:30 am on 1^st Jan 2010. Total distance of some 9 miles. If we are going to be very large in numbers it would help The Bell to know in advance, so if you intend bringing a large party please ring and inform Lyn or Jim Blackie on 850795

This year celebrates the 40^th Anniversary – New route will be available in the Christmas bulletin.

We are looking for some extra help marshalling if you are free on Boxing Day Morning.

Santa will arrive on his sleigh in the Playclose at 6:30 pm after the Crib Service on Christmas Eve. His sleigh will take him from Westbrook Green via Berry Lane, Bridus Mead, Eastfields, London Road, South Street and Church Road to the Playclose. Come and enjoy carol singing with The Blewbury Brass Band.

Don’t forget Santa’s mailbox will be open between 10:30am and 12:30pm on Thursday 24^th at the Playgroup opposite the Church.

Please label EACH PRESENT clearly with name & age. Please place all presents for one family in one bag.

Santa’s postal charge is only £1 per parcel – small parcels preferred!

It’s the fabulous 50’s and your dressed to kill for the senior prom, little do you know things are going to be a little different this year…. its Halloween, the undead are rising, welcome to the Zombie Prom with live music from Too Much Stuff.

Doors open for the Prom 8.30pm at the Ancient Indian Burial Ground / Village Hall. Tickets are £10 from the Post Office and Savages, evening includes fund-raising cash bar. Fancy dress encouraged but beware the zombies.

The course takes just three hours to complete and will give you the essential skills to save a life - including CPR.  This course deals with serious conditions and incidents. It is ideal if you want to know what to do when faced with an emergency involving a casualty of any age.

Course content

• Communication and casualty care.
• Managing an incident.
• Looking after yourself and the casualty.
• Adult, child and infant resuscitation.
• Treatment of severe bleeding, chest pain and an unconscious casualty.
• Treatment of choking in adults, children and infants.

Although it seems some time ago we would like to say a big thank you to Pat and Bernard Mattimore and all the Festival Team for their hard work which made this year’s festival a great success.

Most events have an admission charge, and you are recommended to buy tickets in advance, You can buy tickets initially at the Vale Room on Saturday 23rd May from 10am - 2pm, and thereafter at Blewbury Post Office.

The Festival is a Blewbury Village Society event.

Pig roast from 12.30 (get your ticket early as the pig is popular) but don’t worry as the primary school governors are laying on a BBQ with sausages and burgers. We’ve a bar for those in need of refreshment and teas for the more refined.

Had a hard week? Built up a bit of tension? Visit the crockery stall and take out that frustration. If you have any UNWANTED AND DAMAGED crockery please contact Pete Baker as I’m sure he’d appreciate a few more supplies. 

Fancy getting a little more involved? Visit one of the many society stalls and sign up for everything from the learner band to the village produce association.
