About Blewbury

Blewbury is a picturesque village nestled under the Ridgeway in South Oxfordshire.

The Blewbury Village Society (BVS) was founded some 30 years ago with the aims of organising social activities within the village and protecting the village environment. Everyone in Blewbury is automatically a member of the BVS but a committee acts as the first point of contact and help.

Social events

The BVS help organise an annual programme of social events in the village:

  • Easter Egg Rolling at the Chalk Pits (Easter Sunday)
  • Guy Fawkes Bonfire and Fireworks Display (Saturday closest to 5th November)
  • Santa’s Sleigh Ride on the Playclose (Christmas Eve)
  • Boxing Day Walk (Boxing Day, except when this falls on a Sunday)
  • Roger Cambray Memorial Walk to the Bell at Aldworth (New Year’s Day)

Alongside these events the BVS provides support with hands on help, insurance and advice to other groups and individuals looking provide entertainment and education. The BVS also seeks to fund additional sporting, environmental and social facilities in the village.

If you have an idea for an event and would like BVS support we have prepared a pack of information on how we can help.
